At the time of your first consultation, doctor wants to understand the cause of not able to conceive, whether it is a female factor, male factor, and /or other factors.
To understand the male factor, they first want to take your history followed by analysis of the semen parameters.
Once the embryologist analyse the semen sample based on the sperm count, sperm motility sperm morphology and other factors, they report it to the doctors and there are different parameters for semen freezing as follows:
- At the time of history taking, doctors get to know if the male partner has anxiety issues, stress issues, sometimes may go through performance pressure issues. All these factors drive towards the semen freezing so that none of the procedures (IUI / IVF) get affected.
- Sometimes male partner has very low count or occasional count, doctors prescribes oral medicines and /or injectable and after a month or two, on semen analysis, if semen count has improved than there is a need of semen freezing.
- In case of any type of cancer treatment where radiations are given, it is advisable to freeze semen samples for future use.
- With the onset of DINK trend (Dual Income No Kids), couples are not living together or living in different cities have craze for semen freezing. At the time of (IUI/IVF) procedure, sometimes, it is not possible for the male partner to take off and still the procedure can be done in the absence of male partner only if the semen sample is frozen.
- In case of NRI patients, semen sample is frozen in more than three vials and can be used for female partner at the time of procedure.
Semen freezing is a blessing for people who have high aspirations, career oriented and for future use.
